Meet “DUKE” – Adopted
Duke – Bulldog – 2-year-old neutered male – Chocolate Tri-Color – weight: 50 pounds
Meet Duke, a spirited 2-year-old bulldozer weighing in at 50 pounds. Duke’s journey began when he was rescued from a puppy mill. Recently, he found himself in a home where his new human experienced a serious medical event, rendering her unable to care for him.
This handsome whirlwind of energy lacks manners and responds to very few commands. He moves through spaces with the grace of a bull in a china shop, yet underneath his boisterous exterior lies a gentle lap dog who adores giving wet kisses. Duke revels in snuggling up for belly rubs and butt scratches. His love for play knows no bounds, particularly when it involves fetching squeaky toys, though his enthusiasm can lead to some destruction as he missed out on his puppyhood. Fortunately, his mischievous tendencies are confined to toys, as he hasn’t chewed or destroyed anything else in the house.
While Duke is undeniably sweet, he exhibits food and toy aggression, making him unsuitable for households with other dogs, cats, or small children. His strength demands consistent training and plenty of activity, making a large fenced yard an ideal setting for him.
Though he’s mastered potty training, Duke has been marking in his foster mommy’s home. He’s crate trained but much prefers being by his human’s side, though he doesn’t despise the crate by any means. Duke has been neutered recently (5/1/24) and hopefully, in time the marking will stop – (usually within 3 months of neuter!)
